Content and Copyright at Transit Camp

Table of contents
  1. 1. What is Creative Commons?

By agreeing to participate in Toronto Transit Camp, you are agreeing to the Transit Camp Pledge. Part of that Pledge is that all content created at the event will be covered by a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike license.

What is Creative Commons?

For some participants, Creative Commons may be unfamiliar. Basically all work done and the artifacts created at the event remain the copyright holder's intellectual property, but that property can be copied, distributed and shared by anyone as long as the license terms are adhered to:
  • Any subsequent use must attribute the work to the original creator
  • Any subsequent use must not be for commercial gain
  • Any user of the material must agree to cover their own work in which that material is incorporated by a license with the same terms

All the online, audio, video and physical content produced will be delivered to the TTC for their review and consideration as they pursue their plans for the future.  These artifacts will also be used to mount a planned exhibition at a future community gallery show.  Your work will always be your work, with full credit.

In effect, this means the TTC can benefit from these ideas, bloggers can blog about it, the material can be shared and distributed widely. But as soon as someone wishes to use the material outside of the terms of the license (i.e. make money with it or make it proprietary in some way), they must contact the copyright holder to negotiate terms of use.
